Bedouins don't have internet

We had a wonderful, amazing time in Jordan & Israel.  The bad news for our blog followers is that there is not a lot of internet access to be had in the desert, and we were on the road for much of the time so even when we were in "civilization" we were mostly interested in sleeping!  We're working on this one in OpenOffice and it will be published (probably in several parts) as soon as we return from the village in Nepal, and find somewhere which has both internet & power (erm, possibly Hong Kong!).

Highlights included:
  • The Holy Land mosaic floor in Madaba
  • The Kings Highway
  • Petra, Little Petra and the Seven Wonders Bedouin Camp with it's endless tea!
(update, 20 May: the above 3 points are now covered in the blog post "You are welcome" - look back to 15 April  =)  )
  • A free tent from the loveliest Bedouin host near Wadi Rum
  • A night in Wadi Rum desert (with the Bedouins of course!), a beautiful sunset, and standing on the rock arch
  • Our camping spot & feline companion near Aqaba, and lunch with our feet in the Red Sea
  • Meeting a whole host of interesting people from everywhere!
  • Sleeping in the car by the Dead Sea
  • Canyoning in Wadi Mujib
(update, 11 June: Jordan is complete!  See the posts from 15 & 16 April.  Israel coming soon....)

....and many more in Israel, the best of which had to be Shabbat dinner - thanks so much to Danny & his family for including us!!

(update, 12 July:  Israel is now published - see "Halo Holy Land" in the April posts!  There is also a quick one about Amman, and one more coming about Lumbini (Nepal) if we get a chance  =)  Thanks for your patience!)

  3. Adil! Nice to hear from you, sorry I didn't get a chance to say good-bye (Lisa). We DID make it to Gorakhpur...eventually...and after some adventures with a German/Italian fellow and his bicycle we made it to Nepal that night.
Now in a village school - see new blog post!
    Keep in touch =)
